This Privacy Policy explains how Friends of Tackett (the “Campaign,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) — the campaign committee for David Tackett, candidate for New Castle County Recorder of Deeds — handles information collected through www.tackett4deeds.com (the “Site”) and through our email and text messaging programs.

By using the Site or submitting information to us, you agree to this Privacy Policy and to our Terms of Service.

Information We Collect

We only collect information you choose to give us, plus limited technical information that is generated automatically when you visit the Site.

Information you provide

Contact details — your name, email address, and (optionally) your mobile phone number, submitted through our sign-up and Get Involved forms.
Volunteer and yard sign details — the neighborhood, address, availability, quantities, or other notes you include when you ask for a sign or offer to help.
Text messaging consent records — if you opt in to receive text messages, we keep a record of the consent you gave, including the date and the form or method through which you gave it.

Information collected automatically

Standard server and log information such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and the pages you viewed.
Basic, aggregated analytics used to understand how the Site is performing. We do not use this information to build advertising profiles about you.

How We Use Your Information

To respond to your request for a yard sign, volunteer shift, or other help.
To send you campaign updates, event information, volunteer opportunities, and requests for donations — by email if you gave us your email address, and by text message only if you separately opted in to text messages.
To organize volunteer activity, including door-knocking assignments.
To comply with applicable campaign finance, election, and other legal requirements.
To operate, secure, and improve the Site, and to prevent spam and abuse.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade your contact information to unrelated organizations.

Text Messaging: Opt-In Data and Consent

If you check the text messaging consent box on our Get Involved page, you consent to receive text messages from the Campaign. Messages may include campaign updates, event information, volunteer opportunities, and requests for donation. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency may vary. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out and HELP for help. Consent to receive text messages is never a condition of volunteering, requesting a yard sign, donating, or receiving any other service from the Campaign.

We will not share text messaging originator opt-in data and consent, provided that the foregoing does not apply to sharing (1) with vendors, consultants and other service providers who need access to such information to carry out work on our behalf (and who will not use such information for their own purposes); (2) if we believe disclosure is required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation or to comply with law enforcement or legal process; and (3) if the user consents to our sharing of such information.

Put plainly: your mobile number and your text messaging consent are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes, and they are not shared with any third party for any purpose outside the three narrow circumstances described above.

How We Share Information

Apart from the text messaging opt-in data described above, which is subject to the stricter rule in that section, we may share the information we collect only in these limited circumstances:

Service providers. With vendors, consultants, and other service providers — such as website hosting, email delivery, text messaging platforms, and volunteer management tools — who need access to information to carry out work on our behalf, and who are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Campaign staff and volunteers. With authorized staff and volunteers who need the information to do campaign work, such as delivering a yard sign to your address.
Legal requirements. When we believe disclosure is required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation, or to comply with law enforcement or legal process. This includes disclosures required by campaign finance and election law, such as publicly reporting certain contributor information.
With your consent. When you consent to our sharing of the information.
To protect rights and safety. When we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Campaign, our supporters, or the public.

Your Choices

Text messages. Reply STOP to any message from us to stop receiving texts. Reply HELP for help.
Email. Use the unsubscribe link in any campaign email, or contact us using the details below.
Access, correction, and deletion. You may ask us to review, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. We will honor those requests except where we are required to retain information by law.
Browser controls. You can set your browser to limit or block cookies. Parts of the Site may not work as intended if you do.

Data Retention and Security

We keep your information for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law, and then delete or de-identify it. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we hold. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted over the internet.

Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Third-Party Links

The Site links to third-party websites, including the Delaware Department of Elections and Facebook. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and this policy does not apply to them.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the revised policy on this page. Material changes affecting our text messaging program will not be applied retroactively to consent you have already given.
